lyrics
In combat the woman destroyed,
Her frame reduced by acid
Crawling foe victorious in her would-be death
The wretch forever, the torment eternal!
Betrayed by family, a body of vermin
Gone is glory, replaced by The Wretch!
Alien body, impossible to control
Fists and nails that tear anything that draws close
Comfort is impossible and the pain is forever
A dozen hands invisible stretch out,
Warped around a distorted frame
Her body now made of faces
That scream forever
And the solitude draws towards always
But with an iron will, the Wretch can be overcome
The body can be reformed, and the glory can return!
A perfect band that plays some of the most epic and creative heavy metal in the scene, with every moment being at once familiar and ancient and unknowable. They are unique and wonderful. Serpent Rider
Dark Quarterer may not sound like their first album anymore, but Vultures Vengeance embody the same feeling while still doing their own thing. A truly special band. Serpent Rider
So I can't leave a long enough review to say everything I want. But I will say this, I love this EP. It's a great little follow up to times, and has just enough of a dynamic shift in sound to prove that Smoulder isn't a one trick pony with their first album's formula. This one really plays up the 70s prog aspects (DUST and Manilla Road influences definitely shine through even harder here). It's still Smoulder, don't get me wrong. Just a different side in some ways, all of which are good. playfulpooka
