lyrics
Coils betwixt the rock, slithering din abounds
Lanerly in the dark
Half-nymph maiden, fair as dawn
Glorious goddess and terrible matron
The horror, the mad Echidna
Bearing the children of Typhaon
Twisted in glory, serpentine but beautiful
Mother of monsters, all alone in the dark!
Silence surrounds, nothing but pain
All alone in the darkness and completely insane!
Half-nymph maiden, fair as dawn
Glorious goddess and terrible matron
The horror, the mad Echidna
Bearing the children of Typhaon
Nothing interrupts poor Echidna
In her sad gluttony
Sire of the damned brood,
Born alive in the silent dark
Cerberus! Orthus! Hydra, Sphinx-
A thousand sons, a thousand men lost!
To the children of poor, mad Echidna
Mother of monsters, all alone in the dark!
A perfect band that plays some of the most epic and creative heavy metal in the scene, with every moment being at once familiar and ancient and unknowable. They are unique and wonderful. Serpent Rider
Dark Quarterer may not sound like their first album anymore, but Vultures Vengeance embody the same feeling while still doing their own thing. A truly special band. Serpent Rider
If Elric had a soundtrack it would be this. It's everything you want from a epic metal album. Like a hot poker in the eye, but in a good way. Scott Malthouse
So I can't leave a long enough review to say everything I want. But I will say this, I love this EP. It's a great little follow up to times, and has just enough of a dynamic shift in sound to prove that Smoulder isn't a one trick pony with their first album's formula. This one really plays up the 70s prog aspects (DUST and Manilla Road influences definitely shine through even harder here). It's still Smoulder, don't get me wrong. Just a different side in some ways, all of which are good. playfulpooka
